The Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), UC Berkeley (Berkeley), and UC San Francisco (UCSF) have formed a new alliance – The Tri-Institutional Partnership – to encourage collaborative research among the three institutions. We will advance this goal through science and technology initiatives that catalyze bold, potentially transformative collaborative research among the three partners, and position the institutions favorably for follow-on extramural funding.
The Partners will participate in a portfolio of collaborative activities, e.g., workshops, joint seminars, and seed-funding programs intended to build knowledge and capabilities on topics of strategic interest. These activities will identify and reinforce synergies and research areas of mutual benefit, facilitate the exploration of innovative approaches and ideas, and will target significant gaps in current knowledge.
The Partnership will encourage and facilitate regular information exchange and coordinate the strategic responses to funding program solicitations and the development of new opportunities. With the knowledge gained of each institution’s capabilities and strategic interests from active collaboration and coordination, the Partners will actively foster complementarity in opportunity development wherever possible.
